I'm sure a two option system wont add any more cost / complexity  [Weeping]

Yes, I've said similar before when people ask about tiered membership ie with / without LF, which would be a nightmare and costly to implement.

However, you could simply add a "Physical Card" as an item in the shop, and then those members who really want one can purchase it as an item, the order for which is automatically sent to the Admin office to print and send out.

No need for a "two option system", just offer it as a purchase the same as a hat etc.

If my estimate of cost is correct then sending out physical cards costs the Club (ie members) c£2800 every year.
Complete waste of money in I would guess 90% of cases, unless of course the underlying aim is to create more work for the Admin office Rolleyes

I'd rather my membership fee be spent on something tangible for me personally rather than something I have no say or interest in like international events or legal fees for example.

I'd like a membership card!

Allegedly, the implementation of the Loveadmin system was supposed to save something like £17k, if so I suggest some of those savings should be spent providing a membership card, and as I already pay £40 odd quid a year, I expect one to be included in those costs.

I used the discount at Halfords today and was not asked for my card.  I dont think I ever have been.

Most organisations I am associated with are moving away from annual cards due to both cost and sustainability reasons.  The Halfords on line voucher does have an expiry date on it so showing that alone should be enough?  Maybe thats a Halfords rule.  I agree that an easy to access e-card would be one solution.  Doesn't sound too hard to do (but then I know nothing about it!).  My savings at Halfords paid for next years subs, so it's definitely worth having.

I am a member of a cycling club with 100+ members, we meet once a month in a village hall, have Christmas party with food and drinks and get a bank type membership card all for £15 a year.

Forgot to mention we also get discount at all major cycle stores and outdoor type stores but only on production of membership cards.

My phone has died, so no membership card.
