I would try the spoon technique 

Grab a dolly and go at it with a hammer!

Not with aluminium, it stretches so there isn't the spring of steel. Heat it gently and roll a spoon firmly over the dent whilst supporting behind.

Ah, fair point.  We don't know what the dent is in but dolly and hammer is not so good with aluminium.

I have a dent in my bonnet from our first trip to the Alpes, it was annoying at the time and now it makes me think of the Alpes 

I too thought of Dent, Arthur Dent.

Perhaps Colin Grant was vapourised by a Vogon construction fleet before he could ask his question.
