Lake Como Meet.

Manstein

Recommended Posts

I'm en route for Como and about to pass into Austria and on to St Anton tomorrow. Just been checking on the Stelvio and Majola passes and both are clear about 16C at the Stelvio summit a while ago. So anybody with plans for the Italian crossings shouldn't have problems.

Very warm in southern Germany today about 17C at my accommodation in Rothenburg .

Still on our way home via St Anton in Austria.

Having been on 3 previous European 7 trips, this is currently the best......

The Italian's Roberto, Pietro, Paolo and Marco, all made a fantastic weekend.

Even the weather was great from leaving the uk on Wednesday till monday morning.

If you have never been to Europe in your 7 you are so missing out.........

We will be going back. Don't think its a long way, IT IS A LONG WAY, but what's the point of having a car like we do....

Alan, Pietro and Paolo will be doing it next year.

They are great guys and want more brits to attend....

Only 5 cars made the trip, would have been 1 more but poor Andrew had a fool run into his car a few days before he was due to leave the UK.

A Norwegian drove from Oslo..........

Really chaps, we need to make more of these kind of opportunities for European trips.

I write this while resting after 430miles today, in wet and dry conditions.

More to follow when i write up about the trip.

These things take time to develop. Remember the Wightblat, which started with a few cars and grew into 50+ and almost became a victim of its own success. Portofino probably peaked during 2014-2017 and I was lucky to visit twice where the Brits made a good showing.

Is the month of September chosen for a particular Italian reason?

September is no doubt cooler, as july in the lakes is very warm, particularly in the 7......

Also, just out of peak season, so fine weather, but not stuck in the traffic.

However areas such as Bellagio are still busy with 100's if people being the local paparazzi for a convoy of 7's.

I'm going to keep in contact with both Pietro and Paolo for future events.

Talking to Roberto, he was saying they may organise local events and share information but it will be down to others to book local hotels if they wish to attend. If we know in advance dates etc then a coordinated approach should be doable.

Yes I had the head on impact with a bell in a Passat that put paid to my visit (and the car so far) but 2020, I agree with the comments above, Europ is such a great stomping ground that we should embrace these events. I'm going over next year, organised event or not!

Julian I was gutted, so annoyed but in at absolute state of shock after it happened. I was going to fly down in the end but couldn't get a flight to match the agenda. But I've had significant aches and pains following the accident that I found, come the weekend things were a little uncomfortable, so its all now formed part of the injury claim!

The pictures I've seen certainly showed how the event went, very jealous.

But once the car is sorted (or replaced?) then I'm making plans for various jaunts over and will be going back into Italy late Aug/early Sept to meet up with those guys. So if plans come about I shall share to all and see who fancies a run over even if it was partial distance.
