Those were the days - all you needed was a dartboard and a vacant lay-by at the side of the road and you had yourself an International Event!
It does look as though it might have been a Lotus event that the Club latched onto? As mentioned above, it would be great to see names attached to faces and even to find out how many are still Club members.
Two impressions stand out. Firstly, thank goodness the fashion for mens' shorts has moved on in the intervening period! And secondly, look at the demographics on display - maybe the sprightly younger set that were driving Sevens back then are simply the same enthusiasts who still make up a solid proportion of our Club some 35 years on...
I strongly suspect that the International Meet was organised by our own Dave Mirrylees, the one with the flowing locks seen giving out prizes at the end of the event. I have to say, he has hardly changed - how do you do it Dave?
I agree with the comment on the shorts and there do seem to have been plenty of hirsute men around then, which is why the Seven owner earned the reputation for being wildly bearded with long hair, sandals were also in vogue then, as I'm sure David will testify, as he still has a hankering for wearing them whilst driving.
All in all, a lovely bit of notstalgia which I enjoyed immensly.
Wow - great to see and I was there. Mad Harry with a broken leg, Debbie, Lol Pilfold, Clive and Kim, David Mirrylees and many others who's names I cannot recall.
I have the original video tape somewhere. It was done by three lads and had the worst music soundtrack ever.
We won the competition on the Saturday. I was a passenger with a guy called Nick Marchant-Lane in his car. Part of the competition was a quiz on Lotus and Caterham 7's and at that time, I had read everything there was to read on 7's, as you do when delivery is imminent. My car was in build at Caterham and was delivered a month after this event.
Also this, International Lotus 7 Meeting 1985 from the same youtube channel posted a handful of hours ago.

Democratic dissent is not disloyalty, it is a positive civic duty
I wonder where Kay and Lance are now? That documentary came out just after I built my seven. I applied to be on the program but never got the call.
It was the mid life crisis banker type that got me - "it was either this or a 23 year old blonde" hmm!!
