I know we are a tiny market but it is sad that I told the local dealer about it! They had been told nothing. And I wonder why I can't get a start date for my CSR485?

Originally week 8, at week 12 we asked for an update and now told "mid April start" depending on when the new CSR wheels arrive. And please, no more complaining about how expensive they are...due to local taxes, at current exchange rates it comes in north of £76,000.
I've had to ask Derek for a loan.

#53 I'm sure I remember that CC's wheel supplier went out of business during lockdown last year which caused them huge problems. Can't sell cars without wheels! Think CC have the tooling but presumably busy getting the popular sizes first.

Just before I retired there was a massive concern for the supply of Magnesium into the automotive supply chain.  We were making steering wheels and various smaller components.  The blockage due to Covid was very severe and also affected all of the road wheel suppliers.  I am pretty sure the supply chain channels are not back fully up to speed so that may be what is behind your waiting time.

Thanks David and Chris.
I am aware of the previous wheel manufacturer"s unfortunate demise and believe that was factored into the current production plan. I am told that CC have decided ( I don't know the timing of this decision) to produce a new style of wheel for the CSR. And they have yet - as of two weeks ago - to sign off on the new design.
Given two options for wheels , black and silver, black was the obvious choice for my colour scheme. I hope I will like the new design, I probably will.
Remembering that CSRs are a rare beast today and have wider rims at the rear, it seems an odd time to change as the new rims will, on a size basis, be made in an incredibly small number. Lord help me should I break one.
Anyway, as we know, ranting ain't going to change anything, I'll take what I'm given....instead of May, I reckon Sept/Oct is my hopeful arrival, maybe.
now where did I leave that Mustang...

Derek, send wine.

Can you ask that wheels be deleted from the option and buy some yourself?

One of the "joys" of the tyranny of distance combined with a location that has three allocated builds each year is a lack of negotiating leverage. There is also the query about how do you get the car into the container for its trip Down Under. I could imagine the Customs guys scratching their heads when they opened the container. It might be worth trying it just to see the look on their faces!
But thanks for the idea. I've done sillier things before.
What's the saying in show biz Jonathan? It'll be alright on the night!
