Words are superfluous. (And the site is currently overloaded.)
They need one of these Water Signs but maybe too expensive.
Jonathan, as the master of the search function I am surprised that you did not find the previous thread on this subject. I rember posting the water sign before.
Whilst it is rather a chuckle there was a few cases in the UK due to incompetence of the Highways departments
A certain underpass , very similar to that shown was measured and the height restriction published very clearly
The height was such that most vehicles would clear the soffit and all was well
There was even a diversion route for over height vehicles shown about half a mile prior
So fast forward 10 years and the road is resurfaced = carnage !
Another , and this one may be urban myth , was a major underpass taking HGV into Dublin docks
All the heights were checked and Artics could easily transit through the tunnel relieveing traffic on the centre of Dublin , all curves were checked so that the trailers did not wander into other lanes etc
However , the slope of the road into the tunnel was not checked and the top of a container vehicle was like a helmet sticking above a chocolate roll cage
A few months reprofiling was then undertaken
Absolutely incredible. Not the clip, the fact that both Abbot and I remember the previous posting but Jonathan doesn't.
Challenge over to you JK
JK must be sleeping
I'll tell the whole truth etc...
On the upside I'm off to Melbourne in February and might get to see one.
The bridge has recently been raised 8” so no more videos :-(
Looking again at the youtube clips, Penske had a lot of incidents!
JK, let me know when you are in town and I will escort you under the Montegue St bridge. Our local attraction! Most notorious customer was a bus from the country who wasn’t told not to go that way. Fortunately no one was killed but he was released ear from prison.
It was a great trip, but under the circumstances I'll rely on my existing description in another thread! ;-)
