Finally corrected after a lawyer's letter. First in writing and then on air.

This is a good one line summary of what happened yesterday:

Farage has now discovered what happens when you negotiate on a tight deadline with a far stronger partner for whom not getting a deal isn't nearly as big a threat.

It would help if parties had to stand by their manifestos alongside a law that if they can't guarantee it they can't put it in.

I don't think that that's achievable. I look on manifestos as intentions and aspirations.

But we should subject them to intense scrutiny and multiple independent assessments. Fortunately this has never been easier.

...

And assessment by the OBR wouldn't be a bad thing.
