Was hoping for a £199 price point for the mini, to compete with Nexus and Fire. Not much chance of that, I guess. They'll no doubt sell shedloads even at those prices.

I know Apple has its fans, but I really find it style and hype over substance. I use a number of 'devices' and have never really got on with anything Apple, but have tried. It will be interesting to see if these new offerings are well received or not.

Interested in this new Fusion Drive. Wonder if it is retrofit to earlier Macs. I suspect not though. Cursing the fact I only bought an iMac a few months ago, never mind. I was sure they were going to come out with a retina display for it. I'm guessing making them 21" and 27" would be a bit cost prohibitive currently.

£270 for the ipad mini sounds quite a lot. I was thinking of buying one, but at that price I might as well buy a full sized one. That will be the full sized one that's been updated about six months since the last one was launched.

I think it's interesting that Apple are now copying the competition with the ipad mini (albeit in the market segment they created). They still lead in user-friendly consumer electronics but is this a sign of times a changing...... I'll be buying the \" class=\"smiley\" /> new 13.3" retina in the US this new year !!

Got a 64gb cellular iPad 3 delivered yesterday for a christmas present, looks like that's going back to Tesco this weekend. Luckily it's still in the shrink wrap package.

I was talking to a lady in education last night who has been evaluating the I pad for use by pupils in her private school. It appears that micro soft will be launching a new 'Kindle/I pad sized' tablet at the end of the month. I have gone and mislaid the scap of paper with the products name on ... microsoft ' smooth' or similar. She tells me it will take MS programs, has expandable memory( mini sd's) and the usual array of ports (usb etc). You can attach a flat pressure sensive keyboard that rolls up like a cloth. She tells me that the I pad mini is a loss leader aimed at gaining total market domination and that its worth waiting a few weeks before deciding to buy Apple .... they are going to wait out the fight and see the early reviews. For info ....
