Quoting Roger Ford: Was hoping for a £199 price point for the mini, to compete with Nexus and Fire. Not much chance of that, I guess. They'll no doubt sell shedloads even at those prices. They are hereif you get someone in the US to purchase.

Microsoft Surface The iPad mini doesn't look like a loss leader to me... A lot of Apple's other announcements yesterday were aimed at education. Jonathan

Thanks for the research Johnathan. I am looking at a tablet type for loading photos to assist in some art work 'on the move' and photographic use ... smaller and lighter than a lap top but with full editing ability.... so I am watching with interest. The I pad mini is a likely contender but it seems the market is hotting up for the run up to the 'festive' period.

The new Lightning connectors for cameras, SD cards, video etc are now also available. What are the best editing apps for iOS? Jonathan

New MacBook do not have any optical media - no CD/DVD drive, pusing towards iCloud and downloading everthing! How do you put a music CD on the iPod now? Or doent anyone do that these days? Only last night I copied a music CD to my iPod. Apple would have me buy another copy of music I already own! \" class=\"smiley\" />

Blooming typical. Buy an iPad, and three months later I can buy one that's twice as fast for the same price.\" class=\"smiley\" /> Still, at least I have iOS5 and Google Maps.

Quoting TomB: New MacBook do not have any optical media - no CD/DVD drive, pusing towards iCloud and downloading everthing! How do you put a music CD on the iPod now? Options include: * Buy one of the portable Macs that do have a SuperDrive * Plug in a SuperDrive * Plug in a third-party USB or FireWire drive * Use Remote Disc: Apple software originally introduced with the MacBook Air that allows to you access the optical disc drive on another OS X or Windows computer. (Does this still exist and has anyone used it recently?) Apple have been signalling for some time that CDs and DVDs are soon to be ex-formats, they will be no more. I currently use optical drives in two situations: 1 In my home iMac to put large numbers of photos onto DVDs for lots of people after theatrical productions etc. I'd do it online if network speeds to my house and everyone else's were better. 2 In the MacBook Pro I carry nearly everywhere. At meetings where people need to move stuff around for distribution or on the spot processing it's sometimes essential to be able to do it this way, but the number of times it's used is dropping fast. Following that discussion of loss-leaders....Amazon don't make any money on the sale of Kindles, it's all on the content. I wondered if this was deliberate or inevitable. Slightly OT but is there any apps that you recommend Jonathan around the video editing area. I've just starting getting into this after getting my iMac, any advice would be much appreciated. Bradders.
