I'm not your man, I'm afraid. I use iMovie in a half-baked amateur way. Do we have an expert? Jonathan

Drive manufacturers have been doing this for a while with "hybrid" drives such as the Seagate 750GB Momentus XT. What apple have done is (1) moved the processing off the device itself into the OS, and (2) used a far bigger SSD component (the Momentus has only 8GB). It's a sensible move - many of us use SSD for things that need to be fast and moving drives for things that don't, but why not let the OS figure out what needs to go where? (Especially in the Apple world where people don't want to know about files and disks and stuff). Edited by - Roger Ford on 25 Oct 2012 10:44:11

Sticking with the nautical theme men overboard! The Telegraph's ranking seems a bit odd though: losing your chief salesman is a bigger deal than losing the guy in charge of the operating system? R

Maybe they only had a photo of the sales guy on record as the iOS developer was probably staring at his sandals all the time...

Quoting Jonathan Kay: Apple doesn't design yachts, but if it did… That has to be one of the ugliest 'superyachts' I've seen for a good while... what was his inspiration, the Anglia Windows conservatories brochure?! \" class=\"smiley\" />
