Sadly the £30 rumour is just a rumour. In theory, the engine ought to qualify as its emissions are only about 114 g I believe. But you have to pay the normal amount for a small car.

So it's £230 or thereabouts, how annoying, falls into the modern PLG group as vehicle is low volume and not type approved. A 1400 Supersport would be cheaper due to the VED rules of that time.

It will be at the under 1500ish cc number, about £145 a year.

The EU version, the 165, is sold with the 114g/km CO2 rating as they are factory only and built to the EU rules for certain bits fitted.

Ned, I see that you have got the new roll bar in (blog). I'll need to pick up a petty stunt at some stage. Was there a particular type for the 160? I haven't looked into it yet.

I can't find the thread but someone on here had seen and photographed Caterham's 160 demo car with a £230 disc on it when first launched.

edited to add: It is £145 as mentioned in the PLG section here https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/419799/V149_Budget_2015_Final_version.pdf

I can confirm the road tax for the 160 is £145 even if it is factory built. I argued it as far as possible but DVLA will not budge, even though their own website states that a vehicle with the low emissions of a 160 will attract a road tax fee of £30!   When the new Top Gear supremo reviewed the car he said the low emissions would attract £30 Road Tax but as long as it is classed as a "kit car" no matter who builds it, the standard small engine rate applies.

Hi Simon

I'm not sure whether there's a specific strut... I would give Darren a call and ask him. I haven't yet fitted it, so can't tell you if it's the right size or not! But it does reach the inner skin on the outside passenger side.

EDIT: Just heard that I'm not on the Intro to Sprinting. I'm also doing a day at Goodwood next week. Stand by for yet another boring trackday video!

Ned. A shame that you could not make the sprint day. Enjoy Goodwood; this time at speed, I presume!
