Caterham online race championship

Morning,

Has there ever been a better time for e-sports than now? With the loss of motorsport permits as a result of the COVID-19, I'm wondering if we shouldn't give it a decent shot. An online Caterham race series?

I appreciate online e-sports isn't going to be to everyone's taste, but I suspect we might need to be more flexible in the content we consume and activities we partake in, at least for the next year. Plus formal motorsport isn't the only activity impacted, group blats, area meetings etc are all impacted. A social online experience might offer another interesting avenue to keep in touch and be sociable.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Mark

Great idea. A regular weekly slot (or something).

There used to be something like this using rfactor, you could personalise your Caterham (or at times did a series for historic saloons etc) and once a week had a race with strict timing, qualifying, race with full damage etc and penalties for poor driving standards.

It did take someone with the knowledge to host the server for it, perhaps technologies have moved on to make it easier now on playstation or similar platforms?

As a PS4 gamer I was naturally thinking PS4 Project Cars 2, using the 620R on all UK circuits in the game.     Project Cars supports an online championship so it's easy to setup and run.

i guess we need to see what people have in terms of a platform.

I recently bought a steering wheel and pedals (for my 10 year old son - OBVIOUSLY).  Turns out that the triple monitor setup I invested in a couple of years back to help with LF production makes a pretty good gaming rig :-)  I paid twenty quid to download Project Cars 2 from Steam and have been having a great time lapping Cadwell, Brands, Silverstone etc.  A Club championship would be a great idea!

Chaps, if you have a PC, a wheel and pedals and a copy of rFactor2, you're more then welcome to join in with the online race league that I help to run. We've been established for quite a few years now, we are well organised and race every Friday night in organised race series. There are a good number of us and we cater for all levels from beginner to expert.

We are currently between race series so now is a great time to join. If you are interested please see http://sig-racing.boards.net

I'm always happy for a game of Project Cars 2 on the PC. I don't have a copy of rFactor 2 but would be willing to get a copy if people are organising a league.

@ grenpayne, Will you be running a Caterham series and when will it be starting? I couldn't find any calendar on your website.
