Favourite most beautiful / iconic,

Train, aeroplane, automobile. What's your choice?

Mine are Flying Scotsman, Spitfire, and 3.8 E type jag.

Although I love the Caterham 7 the E type is a truly beautiful car, even Enzo said it should of had his name on it.

Regards.Bill.

E-type certainly, Spitfire yes, hard to argue with that but the English Electric Lightning has a good case.

Locomotive:- tricky, I have an affection for the big GWR Prairie class I remember from my earliest youth.

Trains - indifferent ( dad force fed his love of them to me and I wasn't having it ) .

Planes - F 4 Phantom .

Automobiles - a draw between Lamborghini Miura and Ferrari 275GTB.

(Racing car sub category- another draw , and more prancing horses - Ferrari P4 and 641  ) ,

APT-E or the silver bullet we called it at school. Its test route used to pass our school in Leicestershire in the early 70's

Hercules C130 - things that big and that manoeuvrable shouldn't stay in the air.

Porsche 911 - an early air cooled. Well anything up to the 964.

Trains - got to the A4 class of steam loco or Intercity 125.

Aircraft - Concorde, Vulcan, Mk 1 Spitfire all have a purity of design that coudl be could be called beauty.  I've a soft spot for a Tiger Moth too.

Cars - tricky.  Im not a fan of the E-type to be honest.  In profile I think its bonnet is too long, and don't like the rear.  Plus everyone else like them.  A hard top Elan and a gleaming, polished Lotus 11 are hard to beat for me.

But as its said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

What a different world if the `Spitfire` had been called by its design or prototype number Supermarine 361/K5054 like the ME109 was, or the Jaguar was a Swallow!

Wasn't 'Shrew' and early name for the Spitfire? I don't think RJ Mitchell was keen on the subsequent name.

Shinkansen for its utter efficiency and exhilarating ride.

Toss up between the B29 for its gracefulness of line or the Consolidated Vultee B36 "Peacemaker" for its complete madness.  Probably plump for the latter.

Bugatti type 35 for being so advanced for its time.
