A few "Top Tips" for using this forum:
For a smiley to appear: make sure there is a space either side of it.
To create a hyperlink:
Type the word/text you want to be displayed as the link, highlight that text and click the "chain" icon. Type or paste the address of the site you want to link to into the URL box that appears, and then click OK.
To link to content on the club website:
go to the content, copy everything after "lotus7.club" in the address bar including the first "/" (e.g. "/news/lowflying-binder-bulk-buy-2014") and then follow the instructions for creating a hyperlink above, pasting the text you copied.
To insert a picture that is hosted elsewhere on the web in your post :
Position your cursor where you want to insert the image in your post, and click the Image button (resembles a couple of mountain peaks). Then paste or type the URL of the image into the box that appears. This needs to end in .jpg
To insert a picture that is on your own computer:
Position your cursor where you want to insert the image in your post, and click the Image button (resembles a couple of mountain peaks).
Click "Browse Server", and then "Upload" in the top left of the new window that appears. Selecting "Choose File" will open a file explorer window where you can choose the image file that you want to upload and click "open".
Click "upload" and after a few seconds your picture will be uploaded to the server, and appear highlighted in your own folder. Click "Insert File" at the top of the window and the image will appear in an Image Properties window where you can chage the size if required, or simply click "OK" to add it to your post.
To Quote some or all of another post:
Highlight the text you want to quote.
Copy it (Ctrl C on a keyboard)
Paste it into your message (Ctrl V on a keyboard)
Highlight it again (in your message)
Click the " icon at the top of the text input box
To send a private message to any member:
Click "Send author message" either in a post they have made or from their profile.
a) Click "view x new" to take you to the latest comments on a topic.
b) The red buttons at the top of a post (quick reply, first unread, last post) will save you lots of scrolling. The grey "Top" button in every comment will take you back to the top of the page.
c) Click "New and updated" to see all posts that have changed or had new comments.
- To Follow a thread without posting on it: Open the thread and scroll to the bottom:
Click “+ Add to your bookmarks” in the bottom right corner.
- To mark all topics as read:
Scroll to the bottom of a forum, and in the “Forum Tools” drop-down box bottom right, select “Mark all topics read”.
To sort topics by those with the most Replies, most Views, or latest reply?:
Scroll to the bottom of a forum, and select the listing option in drop-down box bottom left.
To use the Search function:
Enter the search term into the search box at the top right of the page. You can then filter the results by Forum Posts, Author, or other areas of the site such as Guides, News, etc.
Don't forget to check out the rest of the website using the links in the top blue bar to find out the latest News, and What’s On (you can filter the What's On events by Area, or view them all on a Map to finds those nearest to you).
Local Area Meetings can be found under that heading either by viewing the locations on a map, viewing the list or via the calendar.
Be sure to “join” an area(s) (using the red button on each Area page) so that events and news related to your area appear in your profile.
Future functions will also use this information so please join the areas you regularly attend or would like to hear from.
Blogs - done something fun in your 7? Got some photos or YouTube video? Then write a blog about it for other members to read. Anyone can write a blog - it doesn't have to be War and Peace - a photo or 2 with a couple of lines of text is great.
To start, click "My Profile" in the red bar at the top of the page, and in the "Profile" tab you will see a link under Blog Posts to "Get started now"
Competitors Area - interested in sprinting/hillclimbing? Regulations and information on getting started are available as well as the results from events. All of the ‘Intro to Sprinting’ presentations are there as well.
