Apparently, Harry's has inherited over £40M and Megan is worth £4M, so I don't see the need for them to "get a job".

I think we do need a monarchy. It does provide some stability and the Commonweath is probably worth hanging onto, if only for the informal connections. However, I think the "firm" should be restricted to say 3rd in line maximum, with those outside of that being private citizens, with no title or entitlements. With all their land and assets, they should be self funding. How about inheritance tax?

As Harry is "stepping back" from Royal Duties, I think this would be an opportune time for him to take a DNA test - this might solve the problem of his "Royal Status". Shame that the Jeremy Kyle Show is no longer with us that would have provided a perfect forum, and about the level that Ms Markle would aspire to.

It is ok, it is possible that none of the Royals are actually from the Royal bloodline Wink

The Telegraph - Richard III DNA shows British Royal family may not have royal bloodline

If you are going to have a monarchy then adding in a little extra genetic variety every now and then is probably a good thing.

But they are in possession and incumbency is a powerful condition (look at US Presidential elections)

Please spare a thought for the forelock-tugging people who believe they are in their rightful place in an ossified class system. If we got rid of "royalty" who would there be for them to look up to? Rolleyes

Never going to happen. Leave well in place but recommend hard pruning of extraneous hangers-on.

Whether it's, Royalty, politicians, sports men or women, musicians, in fact any type of 'celebrity' the press build them up, but inevitably knock them down. Todays reporting of how Megan 'fled' the country it typical of the emotive language the press employ to ramp up any story. Pathetic.
