Hi all, I just wanted to say hello. I had a K series VVC for 5 years, which I then sold nearly 6 years ago. An Elise SC replaced the VVC and that was then changed for an Exige Sport 350. I'm now considering selling that to get back into a Seven. So thought I'd rejoin the club and seek some advice first.
At some point I'll be able to get out and try the current cars, I have been looking at 310/360/420R on the PH ads but really not sure yet. Anyway hello for now and hopefully I'll reach a decision soon in 2021.
Welcome.

finding the right seven is to me the best part ,,looking and driving diff motors
derek
Welcome heptagon.
If you want to share your thought processes here as you sift through the options, there's stacks of people ready to offer their views, though, as a returning member, you probably know that already.
Roughly where abouts in the country are you?

Orange is my new black
Ballistic orange 310sI went from an S2 elise (base model) that I had for 75k miles over 5 years, then to a 7 1.8k for a couple of years, then a gap, then an Elise Cup 220, and now an R400 k series. I found that the Elise Cup was just too competent on the road, and couldn't get near the limits at reasonable speeds, which is where the others came alive. The thing that makes the biggest difference is what you do with them. With my first elise, and the caterhams, I did track days and trips, whereas with the cup I didn't want to risk all that money. I still haven't really done that much with the current R400, but have booked trackdays etc this year, so Covid permitting will be having some good adventures. The other benefit is that I like tinkering so have done some on the R400, whereas all I did on the cup was fit a better air filter (which was a massive pain and I still have the scars). The 7 is much easier to work on - if that's what floats your boat. What plans do you have for your 7?
Welcome back to the club, and good luck with your search

In terms of my thought process so far, I'll start with the basics before getting into gearboxes and wheel sizes etc..
My first decision is S3 or SV. I'm 6 foot, 73 Kgs, size 9 feet so should fit an S3 but went SV last time as it was just huge compared to the S3 and it's pedal box.
I think I'll fit an S3 fine with lowered floors again and driving shoes. I do want the full Seven experience this time.
Usage would be mainly roads, I used to do Dunsfold but not track days but that could change. Not likely to be doing any touring really.
I appreciate more power can become useful on track days but for the road there's probably a reasonable limit. The Exige is so quick that you can barely plant your foot for more than a few seconds and I wonder if a 420R could be like that - the performance figures appear similar. Also great care needed in the wet on the higher powered cars I think.
How's that for starters?
