I would hope that the response of the scrotes on leaving court would be used at every parole review and that they stay locked up for the full term

I don't think you are alone.

Derek, what you explain is manslaughter.  The actions they took resulted in the death of the officer.  The difference between that and murder is going out with the intention to kill the officer.  In my opinion there needs to be a difference between causing the death of someone and going out with the intention of killing someone and that is the way it has been for many years.

You cant just simply rework the definition other wise you end up with all of the crap we have today with the biological definition of man and woman.

Understand what you are saying abbot ,,but they must have known they were dragging him behind ,,,so it's ok to say sorry   I.  Shot.  him ,,didn't. Mean to kill him it was an accident ,,I'm a crap shot ,,,just meant to wound him ,,,come on ,,,,

sorry if they had not tried to rob a farmer ,,the policeman would be alive today ,,,they are murderers ,driver should be executed ,,

Derek

It is not easy to understand this but it really is worth reading very carefully.  I had to reread it a number of time to understand what he was saying.

The Judges Ruling Notes

In my understanding once the Jury decided that they were not guilty of murder the judge applied the maximum sentence that he possibly could.

It was an appalling crime, and I was surprised it wasn't murder . Death penalty? Of course not . State murder  - which is all it amounts to - is abhorrent to me , for any crime . And sooner or later the state murders the wrong person  - your friend , your kid , your neighbour - that is the price and I won't pay it .

I also despair at the fact that it is now open  season on every traveller . This lot , and their cheering supporters . were loathsome , but let's not demonise every single gypsy and traveller eh ? I did get involved with quite a few people from that community at work ,and some were every bit as bit as bad as their reputation suggests , and others were polite , decent people. No need for the burning crosses and pointy hats ...

I know someone through Facebook who is an ex copper and is understandably outraged by this. I know him to also be fairly right wing though and I think perhaps his outrage is fuelled more by the fact that it hasn't drawn the same outrage amongst the community as Washington re: black lives matter. I've refrained from getting involved by pointing out that this isn't a racial issue but he may, just may, have a point. We should all be totally outraged by this far more than we are. Sadly it will be forgotten in a week or so until the next example of pond life gets a comedy sentence.

Hi John we have a totally diff view on the death penalty ,,,maybe this case fifty ,,,fifty ,,but eight year's  he will  be out ,,,that is not justice ,,,yes you no I have ,,how can I put it ,,, extreme views on things your better at words than me  ,,,I only believe in the death penalty were it is one hundred percent proven ,which many are ,,,not if it by DNA ect ,,but clear cut ,,there is a few ,,for one ,,any terrorist act ,,to me it is against the country so that should be death penalty ,,

I did not realize the policeman s murderers  were travelers.  And yes as everything there is good and bad ,,,had a lot of dealings with travelers years ago ,,,,,none good

enjoy your day John  it's sunny  on IOM today so of out nice walk with dog ,

Derek - courts don't convict people on the probability of guilt expressed on a percentage basis . You are guilty or not guilty. And for the accused to be found guilty , the jury must be satisfied beyond reasonable doubt . But from time to time  some innocent people are found guilty and convicted -who would then topped under Batty's Law .....

The Boston Bomber's death sentence has been commuted and a retrial ordered due to discrepancies in the jury selection process.  This doesn't get his off the charges, it just means (for now at least) he won't be executed in 15 - 20 years time once all appeals have been exhausted.

After the original verdict, the family of the young boy who died in the attack argued against the death sentence - not out of some bleeding-heart liberal or religious position, but based upon the fact that Tsarnaev would keep popping up on the news feeds periodically as his case ground its way through the courts as part of the appeal process.  They just wanted to lock him up, throw away the key and then forget about him.  Tsarnaev is in an 8x12 cell in solitary confinement and he may sit there for the next 60 years or so, giving him plenty of time to think about his conduct.

Not everyone is happy with this turn of events.  Trump has weighed in (which is no surprise).  I am disappointed that RINO Governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker, has described this as a disgrace.  The vox pop reporting on the local news shows a mix of views.
