Home LED bulbs

We have 6 of these Philips LED bulbs in our dining room. SWMBO dislikes the white/cream plastic bases.

I want to fit them in the lounge were we will need 16 for the current light fittings.

Does anyone know of good quality dimmable LED candle bulbs with a black base or think why I can't just spray this bit black?

I see no reason why you should not paint the plastic bases any colour you like.

I agree with your wife, the bases are ugly but the internal light distributing plastic "tree" gives a very good imitation of a clear TH filament. Excellent design for use in chandeliers & other glass fittings.

Most I have seen Steve have white base ,,have a look at screw fix site ,,led bulbs do not get hot so poss ok to paint ,,,remember if you fit dimmer to LED lights you need a special dimmer ,,don't buy a cheap one as they flicker ,place we are now ,,we moved in five years ago ,,every room had  resesed   spot lights  all 50 watt ,halogen ,,so replaced all 75  with G10 5 watt led took out all dimmers ,,

good luck ,,bloody women make life hell at times

Sorry for hijacking but this reminds me of my friends parents some years ago. One of the red bulbs in the electric fire went and they didn't have a replacement so his mother painted a normal bulb with nail varnish. I remember his dad saying how realistic the fire looked when the real smoke and flames started to appear.

The white base on our LED lights gets very hot. I guess the regulator circuitry dissipates a fair bit of energy.

I'd use a high temperature spray paint, such as one might use on a theatrical sptlight or in the engine bay.
