Yesterday I saw a driving instructor ( I assume) in a driving school car driving through a set of lights ( admittedly on green) whilst writing on his hand with a pen. I am not sure if he was also using his hands free phone...... There really is no hope\" class=\"smiley\" /> Guy

I followed a car yesterday along the A25 for eight miles. The lady driver had her smart phone in a cradle stuck to the windscreen just to the right of the steering wheel. I could clearly see it over her shoulder. She was tapping the screen constantly & moving all over her lane. I saw red, flashed & when I caught her attention waved my mobile at her and mouthed stop it, the cheeky cow gave me the finger!

Ditto Wednesday driving up to Rotherham on the M1. Flatbed van in middle lane driving straight but slow. Driver was texting. I seem to sense on approach something is amiss. Don't know what the best tactic is when you've clocked something flash of lights / beep of the horn? Ian

Want to stop handsfree mobile use whilst driving? Make it a mandatory one year ban if caught doing so. That would get the attention of most of those who do.

Make the fine proportional to the value of the vehicle being driven, maybe 10%. No excuse not to have ticked the box for a hands free kit when ordering a Porsche Cayenne! Yesterday I was followed by a Range Rover where the driver had his phone to his ear with his right hand and a fag in his left, he even had to keep reaching over himself to drop the ash out of the drivers window! Although the worst culprit I've seen was a bus driver with a bus full of passengers \" class=\"smiley\" /> Stu.

Our company uses a taxi scheme where we go onto a website and request a car from X -> Y and we get quotes. So I picked one about a year ago to bring me home from LHR and the driver was texting and talking w/o handsfree. The first time he did it I asked him to cease for my safety and other road users. The second time he did it I took pictures of him in the act as he damn near hit the center divider on the A404 with the handset crammed between his head and shoulder at one point and I decided enough was enough.. I then contacted our travel folks and the taxi scheme website MD. I sent them all the pictures which included date/time stamps. Result -- said driver is no longer driving for them.
