IOW TT

One for Derek..........the IOM is making so much money out of the TT that the Isle of Wight is going to run one in Oct 21. Apparently it's  going to be along 'Military Road', which is the main thoroughfare across the spine of the Island

Hope the road surfaces have been improved since I was last there.

It would be great for the island.

Fantastic to hear that there can still be new events of this type.  Every year I expect to hear that the IOM TT is going to be stopped.  A new event suggests that there is a possibility that people will still be allowed to do dangerous things if they want.  Long may it continue!

There is some money made in practice and TT week ,,think hotels prices ok but cost to get here ,crazy steam packet nearly double normal price ,, and you mainly have not much option when you travel ,,son got stuck in uk for four days last year cos he could not get back to IOM ,he went away in camper to do mountain bike event ,,a lot now come for practice week or mid week for week ,,when I first came here nearly fifty years ago there were ,poss four boats , used to load up at Liverpool over to IOM then back load up again ,now one boat , now a few who come but have to miss senior Friday race day ,or had to stay till following week ,,if you want to make money TT week buy a burger van ,,,you would not believe  what some make ,,a mate had one few years ago ,,after paying all expenses he reckoned he made two months wages in a week ,,,I just give pete and his mate a kipper bap and there happy ,,,,

IOW will do very good ,accomadation May be a big issue but a lot don't mind camping ,,,as for stopping TT it will kill Iom if the bloody good doers have there way ,,,bastards ,,,,the bikers race ,only the top few get good money ,,they do it cos they love it ,,and all no the consequences if it goes wrong ,,,so its up to them ,,,the spectators also no the danger ,,go watch Hamilton and co ,,who are not in the same league ,,getting paid millions in a very safe racing car

had to get him in somewhere ,,he will now be in his luxurious camper at Silverstone practicing his BLT speach ,looking for a dry spot to put his knee

The problem would be getting a good spot on the calender. October in the UK seems ridiculous.

Thing is with TT it's a two week event ,so expensive for competitors and two weeks out of there year ,they would have to make it a max week event ,,,practice and race ,,then try find date to miss all other bike races ,

Derek, think you meant BLM speech. BLT may have been a Freudian slip - Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato. Although perhaps he will make a speech extolling the virtues of a BLT sandwich!

A TT style road race on the military road sounds good. Probably still won't be as quick as the early Sunday morning  blatters from Wightblat 1.
