Just saying Hello (1st post)
Hello to all and sundry. I am not a 7 owner yet, but hope to rectify that next year. Joined the forum to get the lowdown on the ins & outs of buying and owning a 7, to hopefully guide me to making the right decisions. As we live in Southern Catalunya, viewing / testing different models will not happen until the current crisis is abating, although I did visit PTSports in Maidenhead last summer and get one buttock onto the seat of a race prep model. Footwell space was not Nike friendly! But, I have already read the recent Newbie thread & see that there is room to manoeuvre in the pedal placements. Getting a 7 past the Spanish ITV (MOT) certification so I can put Spanish plates on it is another hurdle I need to work out before splashing any cash. Hopefully, with the COVID enforced lead time on my decision, I will have worked out what I feel I want & make a good decision. I really have a serious hankering for the more basic analogue experience of learning to control a 7, but until then I will just have to be content with my extremely digital F80 M3. :) PS my forum name really should be Pond Oldboy, but I like to keep my forum identity consistent. (F650.co.uk, UKGSers, M3cutters). I look forward to enjoying your wisdom and wit. PB

Welcome.

I'm 6'1" and size 11 shoes - I found a lowered floor made a massive difference to cabin comfort and actually made more room in the footwell.

Never had any dealings with GP sevens ,,think there way down south may be closer to you ,,but phoned them once when I was thinking of selling  my seven ,they were very helpful to, talk to ,,,,they always seen to have a good stock of cars in  ,,I have. SV and would tell anyone thinking of buying a seven to try one ,,,especially if using it mainly for touring ,,,think a standard one is best if doing a lot of track days ,,,,,,enjoy looking ,,,,may be a while though ,,,but they still seem to be selling well

Welcome to the Club.

We have a few members in Spain but I don't know their specific locations. Being a large country, it does make a difference!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Already had some useful 7 porn (manuals ;) ) sent to me, which I will start on this evening. My various questions will be posted shortly, most probably starting with the choice of going for a 1600 v 2 litre motor. Damn, my bad, I didn't mean to type that.

Welcome aboard from a fellow tosser (it's a UKGSer thing!), there's a few of us here that are over there as well Beer

Where are you in southern Catalunya? I have a biking mate with a place in Xert (Castellón) and a few times we've ridden down through the Pyrenees taking in Belchite, Zaragoza, Lleida, Ainsa etc, all the usual biking routes!

Stu,

Thanks, and the coffee bean shake to you too. ;)

I'm in Mas de Barberans, which is literally just up the road past La Senia from Xert. About 30 minutes away. We have been here for 13 years now. It's a very small olive farming village of about 650 people. We have a finca (arable farm) of about 24 acres with 1,000 olive trees. Got a very good crop last year, so we have about 2 pallets of cases of Extra Virgin (0.3% acidity) olive oil in 1/2 litre bottles. Unfortunately, with the current goings on, it just isn't worth the trouble and cost to ship it to the UK. Germany & Netherlands is much easier & more profitable.

If you or any other members are passing stop by & I'll give you a case to liven up your salads, etc.

I'm planning that once I get my hands on a 7 that I will let it loose on the circuit at Calafat north of us. I took the M3 there last year to wear the last few millimetres off the Conti's that it had on, but found the track was too small and twisty for the size and power of the M3. I was only just hitting 4th at the end of the main straight. It would be perfect for a 7 however. Actually that's where the dream started, but I didn't have the cash available then.

Ride safe & ATTGAT.
