Kippers

For fans of smoked fish, the Upton Smokery near Burford do the most amazing smoked salmon and, sorry about this Derek, kippers that are every bit as good as those from Peel.  All available mail order.

Just don't heat the kippers up in a microwave for breakfast in a large open plan office as one of my old colleagues once did. The smell travels rather too well.

On our annual pilgrimage to the IOM for the Classic TT (but not this year*grumpy*). My pal and I binge on  Moore's of Peel kippers.  We plan our rides, around this beautiful Island, to be Kipper centric.

Derek and Kay spoil us with Kipper baps too. Oh and of course there's the racing.

In 2013 I think it was, on IoM trip, friends bought kippers that were vacuum sealed in plastic, allegedly bomb proof, for shipping around the world. They also bought cheese that was wax coated. Said items were placed in a bag behind the seats of the Caterham for our drive home to Kent. It was a stinking hot day, even though it was May. We avoided the motorways and drove down the Welsh border then across country. When they got home they found the kipper package had swelled and exploded into the bag. The wax and cheese had melted and mixed together into soup.
