Large House Insurance, any recommends please?

I am fortunate to have a house with more than five bedrooms but unfortunate that it does not fit the mass market for insurance comparison sites and most company policies.

Can anyone recommend a company that will cover buildings and contents?

My current company has just increased the premium by over 30%

I would very much like to leave at the forthcoming renewal and hopefully other clients will consider likewise. Then the message might be understood when the marketing dept considers prices for 2022!

Any help very much appreciated.

The FCA are investigating price walking, the practice of gradually increasing premiums for loyal customers while offering cheap premiums to entice new customers.

I guess we'll start to see some changes in pricing practices ahead of any ruling!

Call your local NFU insurance office. Speak to a human. Very good in my experience with non standard quotes.

I had the same issue for years, 6 bedrooms , ended up with NFU a couple of years ago.

Slightly  off topic but I'm with NFU for motorhome and trailer cover, very good to deal with and prepared to tailor cover to suit you more than most.

Have you considered Hiscox? They specialise in 1 off risks and high value properties.

We used A-Plan for many years before we downsized and were always happy with the service andprice.

I'd stay away from Hiscox - the wording of their business continuity insurance is dubious in relation to Covid leaving them open to a big hit (according to my neighbour who is in the industry)

Used to use NFU for house and contents many years ago. Great prices and friendly local office. Then they demutualised (?) ... and prices soared.
