London Bridge incident

It is really sad to see 2 young people who were committed to improving the criminal justice system to have their lives cut short by the very people they were supporting.  I cannot begin to feel how their families must feel.

The video of the members of public intervening in the attack is just incredible.  What heroes.

I felt really uncomfortable watching the guy who had taken the knife away walking away from the incident.  I really would not like to be at scene like that with a knife in my hand as armed response officers are arriving very quickly at a confusing situation.

Hats off to all and deepest thoughts to the families and friends

I haven't seen it but it sounds amazing. My guess was that one person reacted to intervene rather than withdraw and others followed from that... is that how it looks?

The narwhal tusk is like something from a thriller.

...

I cannot begin to feel how their families must feel.

At least one relative of a victim has been pretty clear about how he feels and has asked for restraint by politicians. Jo Cox's husband has said the same.

Reporting of the criminal justice aspects has been both confused and partisan.

The best explanation of what happened that I have found so far comes from The Secret Barrister: "10 things you should know about the London Bridge attacker and “early release”".

London Bridge Video

I think the intervention took place as the guy was leaving the buildings and was chased by at least 3 guys who picked up the fire extinguisher and tusk as weapons.  One of the guys said "Im a rugby player and after initial intervening to stop what he thought was a guy being picked on.  Then after understanding the situation thought "one in all in".

Interesting read on the link JK thanks

Bl**dy Immigrants, coming over here washing our dishes and attacking our home grown terrorists.

Feel sorry for the families,of those killed ,,,good to se the police for once acting swiftly and shooting him ,,they should do it more often ,,,save us on paying lawyers a fortune to defend them ,and keeping them in prison

bit drastic some might think ,,but to me any body like those involved in tererisum they should be classed as   Traitors and if caught should be dealt with by a military court ,, then shot ,,England is to soft letting these into uk ,look at the last one to kill two people out on parole ,which I do not agree with ,he will cost the uk a fortune to keep and will get better looked after than most in hospital ,,,,give him to the Americans to lock up in guntalamo bay ,,,Think that’s the place ,,,poss arm police in London

derek

Americans (or at least the MAGA type):- "We need more guns"

Brits and Poles living and working in the UK:- "hand me a narwhal tusk or fire extinguisher."

Yes, the bravest people intervene to counter the cowards who attack those who are unarmed or outnumbered.

That said, would I be brave enough? I don't know. I hope so but until faced with the moment, I don't think most of us know.

The hero of the day for me was a Polish guy named Lucas who cleans glasses in the basement. He responds after hearing screams and manages to hold up the scumbag sufficiently to allow people to escape.

The fact that this hero is an immigrant does not seem to stop people on Facebook from still posting up and sharing cr4p about immigrants that I am fed up of seeing.
