Mad dad building steam engines in his shed

Might be of interest to the engineers on here. My dad, retired precision engineer, turned 80 this year, and builds "freestyle" steam engines from junk/car boot sale bits/whatever he can find, in his workshop. After years of working to tight specs (for Harwell, Rutherford lab, nuclear, F1 etc.) he is free from constraints so does as he likes, for his own entertainment. Its hard to categorise. True "steam punk" maybe? Art?

Anyway, my sister has made him write some words, take some photos and videos (most of which work on most browsers now) and create a sort of blog:   www.berniesengines.com

Send him a message via the contact page if you like it - its been a tough year!

Great stuff - I hope I'm still messing about in the garage / shed at his age!

Fab!

All recycled, scrounged or redeployed.  I love the tale of the Newcomen engine.
