I bought a 1969 FIA racer late last year. Supposedly solid, it required some expensive welding. Ignition problems (caused by reversion to Points For FIA compliance) were a pain and I had to sort out overheating. It also has a big oil leak which will probably get sorted by a specialist. Handling is strange but I need to fit some decent rubber. Planned to enter historic road rallies but lack a navigator. Hope to get it on track by end of the year.

Moving on from Imps and G15s, what about the Clan Crusader?

Doh! I was thinking of the Clan Crusader when I praised the G15.

I did indeed have  a Clan , and it was brilliant. With 998cc Rallye Imp engine 0-60 was probably in the nines , 40 mpg , and super grip and handling. As long as you never, ever even thought about lifting off the throttle while  cornering hard , It is rarely a smart move  , but early 911 like, in Clan you get a giant tank slapper mosngter oversteer .

The car was designed by Paul Hassauer , an ex Lotus guy , and was originally the concept for a Seven successor . And the engine, was very sophisticated for mid 60s - alloy ohc and based on a Coventry Climax engine.
