NE Blat

Was great to meet everyone at the North East gathering on Wednesday. Thanks to Bill, Derek & his good lady, John & June, Mick, Mike, Steve, Richie & his good lady for your "welcomes". Sincerest apols to "the good ladies", my memory is appalling!

Anyways, one thing we discussed was a series of blats to cover Northumberland, Teesdale & Weardale and also the North York Moors. Aim is monthly, probably a Sunday, but all fairly flexible at this stage. All and every suggestion welcome and encouraged. Thought is each time, a different person decides the route and leads on.

As a starter for 10, first one, (Mike's heading this one) Northumberland and Borders, Sunday 25th March, meeting at 10am at Washington services (A1M). Then off up the A1 to Morpeth, across through Wooler and Coldstream until we pick up the A68 and head back south through Kielder and Otterburn and then back down through the Land Of the Prince Bishops. Plenty of opportunity to join and leave en route, depending on your location and availability. Will post something near the time with more details. Just wanted to get something into the diary for a starter. Everyone welcome and if you can't make the whole thing, would welcome suggestions of places to stop and perhaps meet anyone from the club for a coffee?

Will do my best to join the Northumberland and Borders blat as you'll near as dammit pass my front door! Heighley Gate Garden Centre just north or Morpeth as you pick up the A697 might be a good meeting point - big car park coffees and loos available etc. I'll see if I can get an afternoon pass, but may have to give up some kid-free days to the missus as I'm also at Croft on Good Friday the following week!

Look forward to it Andy and a quick stop for a coffee just after Morpeth is a good shout and opportunity for some from Newcastle and northern parts to meet us there

New hobbies include:

1) Learning to develop a lighter right foot.  2) Learning the location of all local tunnels.  3) Learning to feed a family on the cheap as I've spent all the money on a plaything

I'll be across on Good Friday (am guessing I can spectate and have a chin wag with the entrants) but alas the event is fully booked so no driving

With the state of my driving Derek, for the safety and enjoyment of the other participants, I agree Derek, me not getting a place may well be a good thing ha ha!

Just a reminder about the blat this weekend (weather permitting!)

We will be meeting at Washington services northbound on the A1 at 1000 with a pick up around 1040 at Heighley Gate Garden Centre just by Morpeth turn off

Rough route is A1 to Morpeth turn off, A697 to Coldstream, A698 to Jedburgh via Kelso and finally A68 southwards.

Any and all are welcome to join, no silly speeds so 620R not mandatory!

Looking forward to it and weather (he says quietly, with fingers crossed and touching wood) looking dry and around 8/9 degrees. Plus, we get to go through the Tyne Tunnel with hopefully at least 3 or 4 7's!

All good to go for tomorrow's Blat. Meeting at Washington Services Northbound at 10am and a further meeting point of Heighly Gate Garden centre at 10.45 - 11 (on the A697, just after the turn off the A1 at Morpeth).

Looks like there'll be 7 Sevens (which seems appropriate) but room for more yet if anyone else wants to join us Thumb Up
