He’s a bit taller and better looking than your good self!*driving*
We were surrounded by 20+ Japanese tourists when we stopped for lunch at Corfe Castle. As usual I just take the doors off and let them all selfie away, inside and out.
Another time in the New Forest, a school mini van pulled up beside us filled with teenagers. We chatted to them, and the teacher, and then just left them with it (less keys!!). On returning absolutely no damage, and the teacher said it was the best outing they had had.
Then, in the Loire Valley, there was the French OAP who got in and couldn't get out...............................
We are only brief custodians after all.
After perhaps leaving a crossroads in Italy with the Seven a little too fast, I was stopped by the police: Hello, this isn't Monza, this is Rovereto( a town in Upper Italy) and then both smiled.
Reactions to mine seem to vary from mild curiosity to complete disinterest.
It's usually children who are most enthusiastic about the car. It's a yellow one, so my favourite overheard comment is probably a small girl who asked her mother "Why is that man driving Brum?"
I had a "Brum" once but didn't know the reference.
They were separated at birth, Jonathan!
Half of BlatChat are now checking if the steering arms are horizontal...
A few years ago when I was heading out on a blat and had the TPS partially fail a few kilometres from home, I had to pull a U-turn at the traffic lights to head back home with periodic black smoke and kangerooing. I was then followed and pulled over by an unmarked police SUV that had been waiting at the lights. The cop after saying "do you know you pulled an illegal U-turn there?" (which I replied "yes" to), then said "nice car, pity I can't have a closer look, as I can see you are having trouble keeping it running, hopefully you can make it home without a tow".
I've also found it is the only vehicle that transcends all demographics with approval from all - dropped hands from motorcyclists coming the other way when driving with helmet and aeroscreen, old, young, male, female, pickup drivers, exotic car drivers, modded Japanese car drivers, etc. Often I will be sitting at traffic lights next to a full size pickup truck with the driver way up above me, having a conversation about what it is and what it will do.
