Phone insurance advice

Anyone able to advise. My son managed to get his iPhone lifted in the pub. Contacted his insurance to get it replaced, which they are doing and he has paid £100 excess.

Since then the police have managed to return the old phone which is now blocked by the provider so essentially is useless.

So my question, if we contact the insurance company and say we have the old phone I am assuming that they will want it returned. Will they then return the excess

Any legal thoughts greatly appreciated.

cheers

If they have paid out the phone is theirs , you should send it to them if they want it  .

You claimed and had the claim accepted , you are therefore liable for the excess under the terms of the policy .

I think it would be difficult to reverse the claim but i guess you could try , in that case you would return the money received and keep the phone . You are then into trying to get it unlocked .

Just send the now useless handset to them, if in any doubt.

Return the locked phone. And if you were wondering whether the insurance company would/should then refund your excess, IMVHO, two chances; slim and none Byebye
