I wonder if anyone has experience of employment law, specifically relating to the current Covid-19 crisis. I have looked on the Gov.UK website and called ACAS, but ACAS are not taking calls and refer you to their website, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on either website for my particular situation.
I am an agency worker registered with 5 different agencies and work for whichever one has work available at the time and have done so for a few years now. On Monday I received the dreaded NHS Coronavirus Service text saying 'We have identified that you're someone at risk of severe illness if you catch Coronavirus. Please remain at home for a minimum of 12 weeks etc.' This is because I am classed as a severe asthmatic and it would not therefore be advisable to catch the virus!
As I am an agency worker, it seems that I am not eligible for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) as I am not regarded as an Employee. I cannot seem to find out what, if anything, I am entitled to now I am not allowed to go out and work for the next 12 weeks?
Does anyone have any knowledge of employment law in these circumstances? Both Chris (Aeroscreens) and I cannot now earn an income (Chris for a minimum of 3 weeks and me for 12 weeks). Surely as an agency worker I must be entitled to some form of sick pay when this quarantine is the law?
If anyone has any knowledge on this subject, it would be greatly appreciated.
