Is there such stuff as "unhealthy" food?
Or is this very general cover-all phrase which includes fatty, sugary and salty (most prepared) food helpful?

In my opinion, the simple message should be "Eat less, do more" because after all, the balance is between calories consumed and calories expended.

yes there is. It is not a matter of eating less and doing more. if you care, (and many don't) then avoid processed food and eat mainly veggie with an occasional treat of whatever you fancy. ISTR somewhere it was 80/20

I now rarely eat red meat and if i do its organic properly reared and aged not the bright red shit in the supermarket basic isle.

It's about moderation. Intensive farming made it easier for everyone to glut on what used to be luxury food. I think looking at the populace and its obesity rate and the percentage of diabetics and their death rate from COVID i'm a bit surprised at the question even appearing.

The food manufacturers know that sugar is addictive so they can sell more

Macdonalds an obvious. I mean washing stuff in ammonia? Seriously?

I don’t think deep fried Mars bars are particularly healthy

There is definitely unhealthy food, couple that to an inactive lifestyle and it is killing thousands every year. Wild Bill is on the money, eat less of the processed stuff and cook more from scratch. Easier said than done though.

Move fast, stay low.

I think less cookery shows on TV might help ,we seem to have become obsessed  with food. After all it's  only fuel.

Eat less and make sure it is not all the same thing as well as doing more would do the trick.

Organic and other more expensive food all breaks down to the same proteins, sugars and fats. So you can be perfectly healthy on a cheap diet. Though it may not be as kind to the animals and environment. Though some intensive farming is considerably better for the environment than the alternatives.

I'm with you gulf. Most of my friends are obsessed with food and only want to talk about the latest meal they ate in a restaurant or cooked at home. I have one or 2 friends who recently admitted to spending £500 a month going out. There's the other obsession of posting your plate of food on social media Yikes what is that about unless it's your living? Takes all sorts i suppose but I/m just not that interested in food other than as nice tasting fuel.

There is no unhealthy food but an unhealthy lifestyle, variation and moderation is the key, veggie and vegan are hip but if you don't have a degree in nutrition you can be on thin ice, me i like my steak from time to time what else would we do with the dead horses. I do have to point out that i live in a rural area where there are plenty of farms shops that offer quality local produce.
