Todays Idiot......

...was very nearly me.

First time out in the car since GNMB in Sept on the way to James Whiting to drop the old girl off for some work. I was on the A3 and was distracted by the (not so) yummy mummy behind me in her Evoque fiddling with her barnet and looking everywhere apart from at the road ahead.

Glanced for a second too long and when my eyes faced front I noticed that the lorry in front of me had stopped dead - managed to slam the anchors on and steer round him while skidding the left hand lane was empty thank god. How I missed him I don't know but heart was going like a jackhammer.

VERY close shave on a damp and cold road. Be careful out there folks !

The A3 can be a dangerous place, all those yummy mummy's and HGV's, a lethal combination.

Do it daily around Guildford... Driving Yikes

I find summer time is more distracting.

LOL ... I was more worried about her slamming into the back of the 7 as she was not paying any attention but it really sh*t me up, literally a second longer and I'd have smashed the car...

'scuse me while I kiss the sky

I had an incident on the M1 a year ago in the 7 early one Saturday morning. Traffic ahead suddenly stopped ... tintop ahead ran into the back of the one in front of him ... airbags triggered. I stopped and turned the wheel in case I got hit. Sure enough ... the car behind hit me, but at least I didn't hit the car in front .. which makes the claims much more complicated.

Good to have a learning experience without any damage.

I drove down to the A3 on Saturday morning and there were two cars in the hedges having gone off on the ice. Since then I keep seeing gritters out, with luck the salt will get washed away this weekend as I have not driven my car for a while.

What Doug says.

And Socrates, although he was prepared to accept the damage for the sake of the learning.

PS: How close did the Evoque end up?

Drove down the A3 this morning, a bit chilly, but what really surprised me was the number of cars with no lights on!

It's foggy!!  PUT YOUR BLOODY LIGHTS ON!!! YikesFurious

Thats the advanced (read lazy) feature called auto lights. Doesnt always work in fog so needs some thought and human over-ride!
