Prime Minister Corbyn flying Easy Jet to Washington ( lay overs in Reykovik and St Johns Newfoundland) sitting in the Oval Office discussing matters of state with President Trump

Perhaps they've met before...

November 1995.

"Donald Trump" is very unlikely to become rhyming slang for two reasons: few rhymes (chump? lump?) and, when shortened to "Donald" I think most people would think the rhyme was with Donald Duck. I suppose "Donald Trump" might mean "dump" as in I'm going for a Donald". (bring us back to Sig7's suggestion. I prefer mine (but then I would wouldn't I?)

For me "April" would mean "showers" not "in Paris", so I missed the derivation and thus the meaning.

BTW:- Is that hair a syrup? It looks suitably artificial but surely no maker would make one that bad?

I am guessing it will have been done on a design, build, finance, operate contract.  I wonder if the engineers responsible have been approached about the emergency repairs to the Forth Road Bridge.

Stephen.

I'd still use Donald for the original meaning that you alluded to - although it could be replaced by Daffy.

But Hopkins hit on something that Neil just up and dismissed out of hand. And that was that the American people are rather tired of the milk toast response that our president has had concerning terrorism along with the long history of politicians issuing forth with hollow promises & their seemingly pathological penchant for lying.

Remember the President got on TV just days after this attack and told the people that they must be nice to Muslim people (which of course is true) and that gun control is the issue.  That was not the time to say such things.

One does not talk to the widow at the funeral of a friend that died of lung cancer about how he was so stupid for having smoked fags most of his life & it was partly her fault for having let him buy said fags. That is an inappropriate venue to talk of such things. The president did every thing but console the American people in that speech. Even his press secretary still refers to the Ca. terrorist killings as 'gun violence' Which is a purely politically worded statement.

So Hopkins was correct in saying that while most know that Trumps proposal could & will not be enacted. They want to hear passion & serious attitude from the commander and Chief (or those seeking to be one) about terrorist attacks & the threat we face from terrorists. Trump (whom I think is an idiot) is the only candidate that has any passion nor doesn't measure their responses based on the likely hood of a PC police alert being issued on them. That is why is can and is getting away with a the 'stupid talk' At least Trump doesn't blame America first is the feeling that some folks on the right have.
