Turner Prize what a cop out

following the recent book prize that was shared between 2 we now have the Turner Prize shared by 4 artists. I would happily give my opinion on what piece carp is the least offensive Judge

For superb, original and impactful art I strongly suggest going to the Hayward Gallery to see the utterly unique Bridget Riley.

It is particularly interesting to see her pre-abstract work and the meticulous preparation work for some the works which made her famous.

There is so much to learn about the perception of colour.

I have always liked her work and saw the exhibition at Kettle's Yard several years ago and there is no substitute for the real pieces right there in front of you.

Mercifully, this is NOT like the "blockbuster" exhibitions where thousands are crushed into small spaces. It is utterly delightful.

Jonathan. It is a real treat.

And we had a great day out. Garden Museum in the morning, afternoon at the Hayward then an early supper at Spring in the New Wing of Somerset House.

GJT that looks interesting and would be the sort thing I would happily go and enjoy. However the total carp in Turner prize is totally random.

Yes   I have staged about six Turner Awards ceremonies and have seen the stuff.

I'm just trying to be enthusiastic about some modern art because it isn't all conceptual. I would ask visual artists to leave the "making a point" to philosophers and politicians.

I'd have to say the Gormley sculpture and the Grayson Perry pot I see when attending Harefield Hospitsl make me very happy.... but then I like the rather amateurish portrait of Eric Morcombe in the waiting area too....
