Black cockatoos are pretty special. Have you ever seen a Major Mitchell JK?

The Times - E-scooters on UK roads set for the green light

Electric scooters will be legalised on roads and cycle lanes for the first time under government plans to encourage green transport.

Ministers are expected to launch a consultation next month on how to regulate e-scooters and ensure safety.

The consultation will be followed by trials in cities, with a potential nationwide introduction if they are successful.

It is expected to suggest e-scooters should be treated like bicycles and be allowed on roads and in cycle lanes. They would be equipped with “speed inhibitors” that will limit their speed to 15.5mph.

That's surprising. But it's hard to see why trials shouldn't be done if they're evaluated properly.

If we want to make a big impact on improving our health and the quality of life in our urban areas, then we definitely need to make some drastic changes - urgently.

For personal mobility, we need to regulate to encourage the safe use of:

- Walking and running

- Cycling

- Electric Bikes and eScooters*

- Compact Electric Vehicles

I'm no 'environmental greeny', but I spend a lot of time in Central London and it could be such a fantastic place if the traditional ICE'd transport could be significantly restricted. Cleaner, quieter, safer and far less congested.

* Saw the press comment about eScooters and a big fan of them for independent mobility. Yes, there needs to be some regulation, as with all transport, but both my son (23) and daughter (21) already use them extensively in London, with no issues, only the benefits.
