Caterham 7 S3 420R Registered 2019 Feb

Evening.

Since registering my S3 420R last day Feb 2019 (this year) I've had a blast. Loved every minute of it! So much so I'm going to sell my Exige and 7 and upgrade to a 620. I just don't see me using the Exige any more as I much prefer the 7. I'm going to use the funds from both to buy a 620R, why not!

  • Caterham 7 S3 420 R Delivered Oct 2018, built through the winter, registered Feb 2019.
  • Paint Lotus Toxic Green ( £1000)
  • Decal Pack Double Stripes (Silver and Black)
  • Painted Cam Cover Lotus Toxic Green, standard cam cover also included.
  • 13” Apollo Black alloy wheels ZZS (6” Front & 8” Rear)
  • Tonneau cover - carbon vinyl
  • Boot cover - carbon vinyl
  • Full weather equipment with interchangeable composite aeroscreen.
  • Arm rests on side screens.
  • Heater
  • 12v socket
  • Lowered floors
  • Seats - carbon seats with padding (620 style)
  • Harnesses
  • Fully carpeted interior

  • OEM mirrors also included.
  • Avon ZZS tyres, no track use.

  • Mileage approx 2700 miles

The car is in amazing condition, dry stored, and properly detailed.

Car is currently registered in the Isle of Man.

PM If interested, I'm looking for a very very sensible price, basically dealer trade in value.

I've left the price off intentionally.  I tend to find if you privately advertise and then approach dealers they aren't happy with the private price being made public as it's difficult to justify the mark up they'll add.

I did advertise on Caterham FB market place but the moderator deleted the post due to the absence of a price too.

Anyone that is interested will find my expectations quite accommodating!

On old blatchat there were very specific selling guidlines / rules of sale which included setting a price. I’ve been unable to find these rules on new blatchat (I’ve not looked for a while though)

I gave up asking people to set a price as its difficult to enforce rules that have disappeared! Happy to be signposted to the rules and proven wrong.

Good luck with the sale!

Well I suppose we have to guess the price although I am fairly sure most realise a private sale is normally a few grand less than a dealers price.  There is a brand new unregistered 420R advertised privately on Pistonheads for a fiver under £37K, so he may take an offer for a little less? No idea of the spec differences but I assume this is the sort of money they are going for?

There are a couple of 2018 420s at G&P for just short of £40K, so as a dealer normally has a warranty attached and adds a bit of piece of mind for some people then these seem about the going rate.

Just post up a guide as to what you want prior to a trade in would be my advice.

John,

You are correct, If someone wants to be clever about it.  I've already provided the price once on the 7 and 3 times on the Exige.  But if it were me and I read the thread, I'd respect the wishes expressed, but that's me.  I can see nobody is in agreement with me.

I've just re-read your other post about pricing strategy, and I can certainly understand your dilemma.

Presumably, there's not much of an active s/h 7 market on the IoM?  If not, then I suspect a trade-in on the mainland is the way to go, especially as you're prepared to accept the trade-in price.

Regarding dealers, how many of the 7-specialists have you approached so far?  If I were selling a car like yours, my first port of call would be Jon Vicker at Millwood.  He's always on the look-out for quality second-hand stock, and he's as straight and honest a guy as you'll ever meet. He also does quite a bit of trade overseas, so the seasonal slowdown may not be so much of a problem. Next, I'd contact Sevens and Classics

Good luck with the sale.

JV
