Caterham trackday airbox for K series

My airbox is a mk1 and was fitted to Jenvey DTH Tbs. I don't know if it will fit any other type of throttle body.

I also have no idea of how much they are worth second hand. Can anybody shed some light as there are two interested parties, and I am not sure it is suitable for either.

Hi Adrian, happy to post some thoughts and pics...price wise (and I like to think of this as an investment *wink*) ...Reverie have their price list online...the Silverstone box+backplate+filter etc...is around £450....yes I know *yikes* ....they look great bits of kit....lets hope the noise is down too !...cheers

That's not a bad price, I paid more than that s/h for my Caterham (Reverie) o/e R500 intake system ... although it is carbon! It's basically a Caterham branded Silverstone box plus intake pipework etc.

When i priced up the Reverie from the link in the email they sent me it came to nearly £700.  I priced items both individually and the Silverstone Caterham kit that they sell.  If it was £450 i would probably make the jump of buying it.  did you just buy some of the parts?  i note they are including a carbon air splitter which i wasn't sure was required.

I assume as it comes with a backplate its not quickly interchangeable back to running no airbox between trackdays?

Hi I just bought the airbox (which is around 450), the backplate, gasket and filter.(which is extra)...I'll give that a go...I may then buy the intake pipes and intake header etc....you are then heading to £800....the airbox is the carbon one...

That makes sense and spreads the cost too if you want the other bit at a later day.  Have you had chance to fit it yet?  I'm just about to pull the trigger on the Reverie box, keep flitting between that and the actual Pipercross box as that can be changed over quickly but like the idea that the Reverie is similar to the Caterham supplied box

Here's a photo of the Caterham o/e setup of the intake pipes (radiator removed). The intake is rather exposed below the front of the chassis, Caterham did a mod to fit the same parts but above the lower chassis rail but it's a bit of a bodge:

And here's what happens if you let your daughter loose at Curborough!

I've now abandoned the aluminium intake box and used cable ties to secure the intake tubing to the lower chassis rail. I've not added any mesh to the ends, instead I've fitted a mesh piece over a hole in the underside of the nosecone. Flood water is more likely to be an issue than road debris, ideally the setup needs a relief port higher up the intake tubing to allow air in if the intake ends become submerged.

This is probably the ideal budget solution you're looking for.

Looks really neat fitted, i've just ordered the same parts but apparently there is a 4 week backorder on the backplates despite the website saying they are in stock.

Are you re-tuning the car?  I've just rolling roaded mine and don't know if its prudent to stick it back on the rollers to check the fuelling hasn't changed due to different airflow?

Hi Matt, I had not planned on a RR session...but the 'collective' advice is welcome...

hopefully will get out this weekend to give it a try...

The box is very nicely made and the backplate is a substantial bit of stainless.....so worth the wait IMO

I did have to make a couple of mods to get it to fit...not too significant, I'll IM the specifics

cheers Graham
