My MGC GT Up for sale ot part ex for another 7 (ideally a Cross Flow)

MGC GT AUTOMATIC - £16000.00

Originally supplied to University Motors an April in April 1969 and in one of 450 RHD Models supplied to the UK market.

Presented in Tartan Red with a full Webasto Sunroof and sitting on Chrome Wire Wheels.

The car comes with a detailed history file with invoices and receipts going as far back as 1982 and Mot certificates covering the last 15 years. The last of which gives no advisory actions required.

Subject to an earlier restoration (photo's held on file) the car still remains in excellent condition  showing no signs of body damage or underbody corrosion.

The speedometer shows the current mileage of 24500.(supported by MOT certificates)- however it must be assumed to be 124500

Within the last 6000 miles the engine was subject to an engine and carburettor rebuild with the fitting of an unleaded head conversion and electronic ignition.

Within the last year complete new front and rear brake units have been fitted  together with ECB Pads and polybush units to the front suspension. New Door Glass and seals fitted.

Other recent repairs included the fitting of a new boot floor, fuel tank and pump and new steering rack and rod ends.

An ideal classic touring GT car letting the Borg Warner T35 gearbox take the strain out of motoring.

Comes with the option of the classic steering wheel or a leather covered Mot Lita unit.

Would consider P/X  with Cross Flow Caterham 7 withany necessary cash adjustment.

Always liked the MGC... my cousin had one 30 odd years ago (YLN280G) but sold it and I saw it at Goodwood B’fast club a few years back. Lovely torquey engine and I believe the handling is much better with modern tyres. I’m sure I read somewhere that the original road test in the 60s was done in a car with under inflated tyres! Who knows, but it got a bit of a bad rep for handling as a result.

I also have an MGC GT (mind is a manual) - she will be 50 years old in December. Modern tyres and some decent shocks make a MASSIVE difference to the cars. Lovely lazy torque - they keep up with modern traffic VERY well. Good thing is that most parts are fully available. I added electric power steers to mine - which makes it very easy to drive. The straight six makes a lovely noise. 

While they are no where near a 7 in performance - they are great touring cars. They are a nice route in to classic car ownership - interesting but without being crazy money.

Thanks Guys, nice to know that the MGC with its 3 litre lump it is not an unknown animal in the 7 World.

Maybe some one wanting to move from the seven world into classic cars may feel a Part Ex in order- something to keep my other 7 Company
