not been to Arch since the early nineties for chassis work so would be nice to retrace my steps from the past.

I dont recall any coming up for sale second hand, there are a few different versions depending on chassis type and they are drilled to fit your chassis. 

I’d be inclined to speak to Bruce.

The lowered floors are supplied undrilled, so it is necessary to use a hole finder to accurately drill the underside front and inner flange holes. The outer and rear vertical flanges can be drilled using the side / rear panels as jigs, with the floor in its correct fitted position.

I just cut most of the shank off a 5/32 rivet, put in a drill, spun it against a grind stone to get a centralised point on the steel shank. Improvised hole finder albeit a bit fiddly to hold in place to tap the ally panel to get the first ref point. Then used old floor for the rest!

I'm think of having this done on my S3 too - just the driver's side. Is this something Arch do as a drive-in/drive-out job or do you need to do seats, etc yourself? If allowed, can you give an idea of price (although this may be a bit sensitive to post)?

Yes you drive in, take the seat out, all of 4 bolts, the clever man does his stuff, you put seat back in , drive out...as for money, I can't remember...

Be alert to the change in the position of the forward A frame chassis mount - this will affect the lowered floor type. I think this maybe around year 2000 or slightly earlier - maybe someone could confirm?

Mine is a ‘98 dedion and has a cut out for the A frame fixing.

I have had a look at Caterham parts and one of the lowered floors available has the description: LOWERED FLOOR PANEL LHS - SERIES 3 DD (NOT 96.5-01.5)

That suggests to me that something changed mid 2001.

I have two dedion cars here at the moment, a ‘94 car that doesn’t need a recess in the floor, and a 2001 car that does require a recess - so somewhere in between these years!
