fordy
For sale is a standard type 9 gearbox just taken out of my 16K miles base 1.6K Caterham. Has been in my car from new. No issues and shifting nice and tight. Upgrade to 6 speed means this is surplus to requirements now.It will need a front nose sleeve fitting that fits over the input shaft for the CRB to run on if fitting in a K series but I do have the equivalent alloy cover for a Duratec. I had to swap them over as my 6 speed was from a Duratec car and this is the only difference between those applications. I believe the original Type 9 part is only about £50 in any case.£300 collected from near Chester.
Ed White
Hi Fordy, Interested please if either you could be patient re collection, or are around today as may be up your way with work later? Going on a Zetec, but can't imagine that's an issue, as think they are all the same? Regards, Ed
garybee
Fordy's box will presumably have a long input shaft if it's been fitted to a k series. I'd expect you to need a short input shaft to mate to a zetec. You can make this work but worth knowing it won't bolt straight up.
Ed White
Ok Gary thanks. Can you just shorten the shaft or is it not worth the hassle? THanks, Ed
garybee
You can and it's not hard at all. You can also replace the shaft for a short one. It seems a bit of a shame to cut it as apparently they are getting harder to come by. As in previous post, not a reason to pass on the box but would rather you were aware before you tried to fit it. Wrightpayne
Pretty sure it needs a 1” spacer onto a zetec / crossflow between the box and bellhousing
garybee
The one in my Ginetta (zetec/type 9 ) has no spacer and a short input shaft.Maybe you can fit a long input 'box with a spacer. I have no experience of that though so can't advise.

Wrightpayne
I seem to remember an article years ago fitting the 5 speed onto a crossflow replacing the 4 speed sport box with integral bell housing and someone had a reliable source / supply of the spacers needed for the 5sp.
