bxhunt
I have 13" for track use but would like some 16" for road use to preserve the sump, flywheel bell-housing,etc.Original HPC wheels would be ideal as it is a 1992 Vx 2litre ex race car.Anybody got a set sitting unused in a garage anywhere please? Thanks,Barry
Wrightpayne
Have you done any research? From what I've read they are the worst wheel ever fitted to a seven in relation to handling. They do however look nice.A 14" minilight on 60 series tyres will give more ground clearance. I believe the 15s on 45 series tyres is pretty much the same rolling radius as the 13s. There is a good website called 'will they fit' for checking wheel / tyre permutations.RegardsIan
bxhunt
Hi Ian,Yes, I've done a lot of research in the past for both my 165bhp Crossflow 7 and my Blackbird engined car - both of which I raced. And yes, you are right, 13" are way better and much lighter. I'm keeping the 13" for the track. However, what I'm looking for is increased ground clearance which 50's on 16" will give. I don't need the ultimate handling for the road. Interestingly, R888Rs which is what I am running. have a better range in 16" than in 14" or 15".Cheers,Barry
Wrightpayne
Its more the diameter and profile (lack of side wall) that affects the handling rather than make / type of tyre.I've ran 13 and 14" rims with R888s and there isnt much handling difference. Baggiebird
Barry,Hi. Funnily enough I have just gone the in the other direction. As I don't plan much non-road use I have fitted a set of 13'' Revolution Minilite type wheels with 185/70 x 13 tyres. For me this has several advantages in steering response/feel/suspension compliance. You loose a bit of clearance despite theoretically the rolling radii being similar to the 205/45 x 16 that were, in my case, OE. This does leave me with a set of (5) 16'' HPC wheels though. They are 23 years old and have done 14000 miles only (can prove) There are minor marks but no scuffs and are complete with 4 centres and locking cover bolts and key. I have the wheel nuts also. BM me if you are interested?

K7 VCT
If all else fails, try Andy at sevens and classics, he will have a set.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted September 5, 2020 Area Representative Share Posted September 5, 2020 Whatever the other pros & cons of the 16" wheels (I have them on my 21" which were original fitment), they are very good looking wheels in my opinion. Clean, simple looks which I think are stylish.

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted September 6, 2020 Leadership Team Share Posted September 6, 2020 Barry, there's two different types of centre caps that fit the HPC wheels, the originals were a very nice one piece cast alloy but later there was a two piece plastic centre as used on the Prisoner/SLR wheels (SLR were black & slightly smaller). I probably have a couple of the original all-alloy centres if you need any ... if I can find them!Stu.
