I don't think there is anything to say really, but what do others think?

If the link above doesn't work, perhaps this one will, otherwise pop on over to car and classic auctions and scrolll down until you get to it.  You'll know when you are there!

Er... so this appears to be a pre-1990 spec Caterham, registered as an Elan +2 ?  (See documents in the pictures)
With Climax covers on a Mazda...

Did the blurb mean to say it was originally based on the chassis plate of an Elan?

Whoever buys that is surely going to have problems getting it legally on the road!

Yes, just the negative ground clearance should stop it !!   Still there may be a few useful spares in it.....heater for instance Yikes

Built to replicate the lotus 7 it originated from a donor chassis which was a Lotus Elan. After being dismantled and fitted using a Caterham Chassis the current owner has built out an incredible looking replica

It would have be interesting to see what it looked like built on the Elan chassis!

It’s one of those cars that if you have the bits and do it for yourself then it hurts no one and who cares. When it comes to selling it who in their right mind would give anything but a couple of thousand for it? It needs an iva and registering as a q plate. Nothing particularly wrong with the car except it’s now neither one thing or another

#9, yes that is correct but you would hope that this would be pointed out in the listing.  As it is not it would seem that someone is hoping to dupe some gullible buyer with the aid of the auction house.

It would also appear that an MOT tester has passed it.  If they are prepared to pass that (which would have come up as an Elan when logged in to the system) then what other dodgy vehicles are they issuing certificates to?

Did wonder why it needed an MoT test given the age (https://www.gov.uk/historic-vehicles), but that's because it fails the criteria for a car which has not had 'substantial changes' made.

Would much prefer the real thing (either an actual Elan or a proper Seven) but as I have just a regular tin-top... mustn't throw too many stones in my glass house.

Former Seven and 21 owner, login from my days on Sevens.net, minus the rude word...
