It's going to be a case of what I can get hold of for a reasonable price. Its a bit of a project car with no seats so just need to get something sorted. I know Tillett seem to have the market here but have found a decent alternative with JK Composite. I know from experience that I will need some padding for my back so by the time you get Tillett seats with the padding the cost will be excessive at the minute. Standard Caterham seats would be more comfy so seeing whats around.
I'd suggest you really need to sit in some different seats and make a decision from there, comfort depends very much on the shape and size of your back and hips.
I've had carbon-Kevlar Tilletts and both leather and fabric S-Type seats, I've found the Tilletts to be the comfiest, particularly when traveling any bigger distances, e.g. 300+ mile days. However some owners find Tilletts too narrow across the hips or upper back area, this might be the same with the JK Composites seats which is why you need to sit in some.
Cost-wise your cheapest option is likely to be a fabric S-Types occasionally available as cheap as £150/pair and easily refurbished if in poor condition.

Thanks for your feedback on the route I should take. Trying the different seats it a slight issue at the minute with COVID. Unless I get a good price on a pair I would go with the drivers seat first to see how I get on.
I have a pair of the Caterham grey cloth seats with head rests from my 1999 vx available. The drivers seat is a bit tatty & could do with one of Oxted's refurb kits. The passenger side is all good.
If you are interested I can send some images over.
Have you tried the options to see what you prefer or what fits you...?

Worth calling some of the race teams and dealers as they often have old seats gathering dust
Hi Paul
These are on EBay at the moment. Not sure if they are worth the starting bid though.

They'll stay there for ever at that price, I paid £90 for a pair....
Thanks for the heads up Gary, bit old though lol. Not sure where he got that price from
