So who's been for a drive this weekend enjoying the freedom and weather?

With drives out now allowed*, I'm guessing a lot of people will have put their Sevens back on the road this Easter weekend. Mines been tucked up in the garage for 5 months!

At just over a year old I needed to tighten a few jubilee clips under the bonnet, but apart from that it fired up first time and ran like a dream. I had a nice morning trip out taking in Cheddar, Chew Valley Lake, the Mendips and Wells (for a takeaway coffee and bacon sarnie) with a couple of Lotus friends. All within about 10 miles from home.

* See here and here.

I've been using the Seven most weeks since Lockdown 1 ended, going to & from my volunteering (Lockdown 3, during January, February & March meant more like once a fortnight).

I went out in south Shropshire on Thursday. Bit chilly ( no heater ), but felt great to be in the 7 for the first time since October. First year I've ever SORNed. Probably go for a blat and a walk tomorrow in the sun. Bounce

I had a quick outing as the weather here near Paris is due to go to snow on Tuesday night.  Sunny but bloody cold today

The other half and I managed a 100 miles tour of the cotswolds yesterday, chilly but oh so good. First drive since end November.

Went out on 29th, being the first day it was allowed.  I hadn't driven Mavis for about five months.  Just went out for a gentle bimble, to try to remember how to drive.

Five minutes down the road and I couldn't stop grinning.  To hell with the bimble.  Like a blat out of hell.  Bouncing off the rev limiter, grinning and hooning like a boy racer.

Must be nice and gentle next time.  Remember to be smooooooth.

Used all over the lockdowns.

Suns out, so I'm going again now.

1st Apil (local mileage to check car out), 2nd April (Lincoln and back) and 3rd April(Peak district Blat with several other cars - all socially distanced) knocked up 400 plus mile in my new R420.  Another 25 and it will be run it to the Caterham recommended 500 miles at no more than 4000rpm.

Good work! I seem to recall you can increase revs by 1000 every 100 miles after you reach 500, so I was testing the shift light at 700 miles and had the post-run in service at 750.

Tim,

I am intending to increase by 1000rpm every 150 miles from now.  As well as looking after the engine, I want to look after myself and get used to the increase of 50hp over my previous seven gradually and hopefully not throw it down the road.  Hopefully by then will have got used to the fuel consumption!!
