chris whitlow
I'm undecided whether or not to do the Hethel Sprint, for two reasons:-1. It's 3 1/4 hours away but probably more than 4 hours factoring in traffic and toilet stops.2. You can't camp at the track.I know you can't help with the traffic and my toilet habits but can anyone suggest places to stop very close to the track. I don't need facilities, I have everything in my van, I literally just want to stop, pull the handbrake on and get into bed.Oh, it'd be nice to find my trailer and car are still there in the morning too!Cherrs,Chris
Support Team Shaun_E Posted March 9, 2020 Support Team Share Posted March 9, 2020 There is a Camping and Caravan Club site near Norwich which we used the only time we did Hethel but bear in mind the gates are locked until 07:00 so it makes an early start difficult. Comp Sec
I have asked for details from the organizers, last 2 times we competed there we stopped at https://www.chestnutscampsite.co.uk/ fine if you are in a motorhome as it has water & waste disposal but very basic if camping, as it only has an eco toilet. Dobson_justin
Chris, I am doing Hethel and have the same dilemma. I will be doing the same as you on the night before, so I'm sure there will be somewhere to park for a few hours. There seems to be a large car park outside if the main gates at the track, just using that would suit us probably.
chris whitlow
Thanks Shaun and Chris, I'll look in to those two options.Justin, It states specifically in the SRs 'no camping onsite or on Potash Lane' so I don't think security will let us anywhere near that carpark! Dobson_justin
Oh balls. Looks like an early start from home for me then. Not paying to park in a field.
Nigel Fox
Is there a truck stop in the area?
johnpbransfield
Chris, from memory there is a B&B about 5 minutes from the track which is adjoined to a farm that has loads of safe off road parking by the barns. Not sure what the name is but if you google the area it should come up.
RogerLegg
When we went to Hethel before there was a pub that was happy for competitors to use their car park overnight. I think that it was the "Bird in Hand" which is less than 2 miles from Hethel on the B1113. I am not certain that that was the correct pub but it certainly has a large car park. Of course this may all become academic if we follow Italy and are not allowed to travel!
Drumster
Bird in Hand at Wreningham. We'll be B&Bing there
Geoff Corker
The Pelican Guesthouse Tacolneston will be my B&B. I tried the place John Bransfield mentioned but they had no room.
