Not sure it’s appropriate to ask but...

Not getting involved in the stuff going on elsewhere, but is it too early to ask if we will still have a championship this year? Chris has been great as Comp Sec, and I am grateful for the efforts that go into our championship, but not sure where the latest developments leave us?

Yes I was thinking that as well.

Its so sad that its come to this. The speed championship has been such a happy place for me over 5 great years and I hope we don't loose it all.

I have said it before but many, many thanks to Chris and his family, as well as Rob and everyone else who has worked so hard to make it such a welcoming, fun, competitive and well run championship.

Obviously I have no real idea what's been going on and wouldn't presume to make any judgments. However I do know that it  takes a very particular skill set to do the job as well as Chris has done (as well as a great team!!) and its very very sad if it has to end this way.

Hoping for another great season!!

Tony

Justin / Tony,

I can confirm that there will continue to be a championship, the regulations are approved, the permit is issued, venues confirmed.

I have committed to care take compsec role until a new Comp Sec is appointed.

After that I don't know what the future holds, Mat wants me to stay in the club and the championship but at the moment the pain , hurt & betrayal caused by actions and beliefs of people I had considered trusted friends is very raw. Will see how I feel once someone is in post, but not sure at this point if I'm going continue, move to pastures new, or just sell up totally.

I also had not really been aware or kept up with the machinations at the top of the L7C, but when guys like Chris (and his team) and Michael Calvert (who recently posted on the subject) who we know, who have given years of service to our club and to whom we owe such a debt are clearly so distressed by the whole situation then there is obviously something very wrong going on.

Chris, Matt, Rob and Michael are the absolute epitomy of everything that has been great about our club and our enjoyment  from competing in these fabulous little cars is largely on the back of their efforts.

So having given so much to us all I can really say is that you have our unerring support and as this situation unfolds if there is anything average members can do to assist in restoring some sense to the situation then I am sure like many you only have to ask.

Its amazing, we finaly have rule changes and I am getting ready for a new season of sprinting (class2? class3?) and what happens there is a mass effort to stop me winning the championship and my class.

What is however very clear, the champoinship will carry on, As Chris have everything in place, what is unclear is what class I should go to.

hope to see you all soon

David

Looking for 13.5 bhp and may have found it

No class 2 is a far greater car control challenge

But David needs stickier tyres to compensate for all the extra power.....

Chris, Thank you for the update, that's good to know you will be around for now at least. Hopefully you can stick around in the championship going forward after all the time and effort you have put in over the years, but I can imagine that's going to be a challenging decision.

Chris - you've done a fantastic job with the speed champ. New venues, new competitors, got the classes/regs really well sorted out. It would be hugely disappointing to me and I'm sure everyone if both you and Mat are not competing in this season.

Remember once I offered you my car for Gurston I think, when you had some issues. That offer would absolutely stand again.

David... class 3. I'll get you the tyres...

Chris. You still have my full support as compsec Whatever else has gone on.

the championship is in a much healthier state than for many years. I won't be around much this year as I can't see how I will have time to complete my car until later in the year.

however if I can help then I shall

as for David, he's old and rusty, I wouldn't be concerned Rofl
