1.5mm2 Thinwall Brown/Pink Cable

Does anyone know anywhere that actually sells 1.5mm2 Thinwall PVC cable in Brown/Pink?

I've tried all the "usual suspects" in the UK. For making up looms I usually buy most of my wire from http://shop.kabelknecht.de/en_GB in Germany as they carry quality cable in a lot of sizes for most colour combinations, but they don't carry 1.5mm2.

I know people will say "you can just use 2mm2" and that's what I've done in the past, it may be electrically OK but it's beyond spec for some of the crimp terminals I'm using and doesn't crimp very well. I'm a perfectionist.

I'd settle from Brown/Blue if anywhere has that instead of Brown/Pink. I do really want my looms to be right as per the designs, but in the EU3 K engine loom there's a Brown/Blue from the MFRU that branches out into Brown/Pink main relay switched supplies, so Brown/Blue would be consistent.

Thanks (and Merry Christmas)!

Andrew

Hi Julian,

VWP seem to jump from 1.0mm2 to 2.0mm2 and don't do anything at all in 1.5mm2. Autosparks appear to be the same.

Kojaycat (who specialise in motorcycle looms) seem to say on their website that they can get custom colour combinations made to order with a few days lead time, but you have to buy 100m reels.

To be honest, a 100m reel isn't really a big issue as I was going to order 20m for the current batch of looms alone and I think I'll be making a few more batches at some time or another, so if the price is decent I'll probably go for it.

Every other combination of size, colour and tracer I've been able to source though either Kabelknecht or Autosparks. Kabelknecht do most combinations in 10m hanks and Autosparks sell the remainder by the metre.

Thanks,

Andrew

Just to add to my woes ... my regular supplier http://shop.kabelknecht.de/en_GB will no longer ship to the UK since Brexit.

From what I understand the UK government insists on collecting VAT at the poibt of sale for small transactions in Europe shipping to the UK which required EU sellers to register for UK VAT and a lot of them just don't want the hassle. I'm not sure that's the situation in this case as I can't get a reply to an email from them either.

I think I've managed to find UK alternatives for everything I need for now, but it has meant shopping around and ordering from multiple suppliers, some of which only ship on 100m reels.

Probably an opportunity for enterprising companies to setup post office boxes in Calais to receive goods from EU suppliers and hold them for nominal fees so one can do a quick day trip from the UK to pick up the items.

We have this sort of arrangement in US border towns for Canadian purchasers of US goods, where the US suppliers aren't set up to handle cross-border shipping and the associated paperwork / taxes / duties.

Usually worth the hassle for hard to find items that are $500 or more, to use this shipping method.
