Could anyone explain why some 16v Vx Rocker Covers have this type of small baffle (small one)

Whereas others have a full plate that looks like this

and covers the majority of the cover . .

And more importantly - what version should a dry sumped engine have ?

Thanks in advance, Dave.

The OE baffle plate is there to condense oil vapour which it does effectveley on a standard engine. In the Seven install, the engine generally revs a lot higher than "normal" and the baffle plate isn't able to cope with it. This results in a greater amount of vapour/oil being dumped in the now "non standard" catch tank. There is also probably(but I can't remember) a re breathing system on the OE install instead of the Caterham catch tank.
