420R Titan diff magnetic drain plug

Hi,

Just a quick bit of adivce required.  While in the UK this week I'm looking to pick up a magnetic sump plug for my Titan diff, as recommended in Geoff's maintenance guide.

Would this item be OK? assuming I select AP-22

I went for the titanium one from the states, it's exactly the same form as the original BMW design.  Time will tell it's worth having (next year when I change the oil again).

CtrMint - That is the one. You will have the vertical port in the diff rear plate so no need for engineering butchery to clear the De dion as with the older type rear plate.

The plug comes with a soft aluminium washer so be sure the plug is nicely nipped up. In service I found that the plug will loosen slightly. Not enough for any dramas but do recheck after about 50-100 miles.

I am going to replace the ali washer with a copper one during the winter oil change.

Will get one picked up this week, I might try and pick up some oil too, given delivery to the IOM from Opie is ridiculous, although that said I was planning to try the secret blend from RRT.

I'm surprised about the diff plate, I was expecting to need some butchery (as you say) to clear the De dion.
