CageyH
I have the SVC stainless 7” lhd headlights on my car, and they are not the best when driving at night. Are there any better reflectors available for a standard H4 bulb set up that fit in the light housing without modification?
rj
Beware that there are at least two different 7" headlights from CC - yours may be a third.
John Vine
Hi Kevin,Have you considered bright bulbs? I fitted some of these a couple of years ago and they made a significant difference. (I have 7" SVC stainless too.)JV
SM25T
Or the £70 pair of LED H4 bulbs from Classic Car LEDs ..... nice dip beam focus .... adjustable for LHD or RHD ... so no more beam deflectors.

Bricol
I used WIpac clear lenses and I find them rather good at night. With standard Caterham lenses, I used to find high speed night driving horrible - done a few high speed long distance runs this year and noticed I didn't notice a problem ;-)https://www.paddockspares.com/pm935-wipac-crystal-halogen-headlamp-conversion-kit-pair-including-pilot-light-left-hand-dip-uk-and-australia.htmlYou do have to set the lights right - in a seven you look along the beam, rather than down on it, so you might have to compromise on either dip or main beam to get the effect on the other you want. CageyH
Thanks for the replies. I have uprated bulbs, and the lights are set to the local MOT requirements.I shall investigate the Cibies and the Wipac Crystal options.
anthonym
p.s. if I had my time again I'd be exploring LEDs.
CageyH
How easy are the lenses to remove from the headlights to change out for different ones? The Cibie seem to be made by Valeo and are relatively cheap and easy to get hold of.
SM25T
To remove the reflector/lens assembly from the front bezel, you just need safety glasses and a pair of pliers. Once you have removed the top retaining screw that holds the bezel into the bowl, unplug wiring connectors. Then put a thumb in the middle of one W-clip and use the pliers to unhook one end leg from the rim ... but keep hold of it. Unhook other end and lift out. Don't try and prise it out with a screwdriver ... that's when they fly... and get lost or remove your eye !!
Bricol
I found simply twisting them out easier if I remember correctly. Don't un-hook an end, just sort of rotate the middle upwards, outwards, round and out . . same back in . . .But that could be greenhouse glass clip technique . . don't quote me . . SM25T
They are W-shape and very strong. One leg at a time is easy and safe in my experience.
Garth
CageyH - recent thread on this here with some pics of my conclusions. I went for Wipac Freeform reflectors which are a big improvement on the Caterham reflectors and LED lamps from Classic CarsThere are also some quite good replacement LED units like this type (not suggesting this particular one!) which may be worth exploring?Good luck
